Design Proposal Rejection Template

A few months back I was thinking about the golden rule. Ya know, the whole, “Treat others the way you would want to be treaded” thing. What’s interesting is that this principal is amplified in power when it’s applied in business. Putting yourself in the other guys shoes will answer almost all of your business questions. Just ask yourself, “How would I want to be treated in this situation? What would I want to happen?.” Then, do that thing the way you would want it done. So, I wrote up the rejection letter I would want to receive if I sent in a design project proposal. It goes a little something like this: After reviewing all of the proposals for (project name), I have decided to move forward with a different (service firm). Your proposal was not selected because (short honest reason in one sentence). I believe your proposal was an excellent introduction and I hope to be in contact with you about future projects. If you are ever in (city name) please let me know because I would love to ...

Posters on Etsy

Hi there blog readers. I made a list of stuff I like one day. It’s interesting to me to find out what the things on my list had in common. I figured, “Hey, I’m a designer. I’m all about making combinations of things to make something new, why don’t I do that for myself?” So, that’s the genesis of the idea here. I just realized I never told you guys (and ladies) about the Christmas posers I made. This was another personal project for the soul purpose of making me happy. The pic above is an example of one of the combination of stuff I dig. Christmas + Posters = Christmas Posters!  So, I set up and Etsy shop ( clintprint.etsy.com ) and actually sold one! It totally blew my mind. The posters are great for apartment dwellers who don’t have a lot of space yet want to create a festive holiday mood in their domicile :) It was a blast to make this one combination so I’m constantly letting my list of ‘stuff I like’ stew in the back of my brain.
