I-like-christmas

Hi there blog readers. I made a list of stuff I like one day. It’s interesting to me to find out what the things on my list had in common. I figured, “Hey, I’m a designer. I’m all about making combinations of things to make something new, why don’t I do that for myself?” So, that’s the genesis of the idea here.

I just realized I never told you guys (and ladies) about the Christmas posers I made. This was another personal project for the soul purpose of making me happy. The pic above is an example of one of the combination of stuff I dig. Christmas + Posters = Christmas Posters! 

So, I set up and Etsy shop (clintprint.etsy.com) and actually sold one! It totally blew my mind. The posters are great for apartment dwellers who don’t have a lot of space yet want to create a festive holiday mood in their domicile :)

It was a blast to make this one combination so I’m constantly letting my list of ‘stuff I like’ stew in the back of my brain. When the next combination hits me I’ll be sure to share it with you.

Success Metric

My wife teaches piano to buy our groceries and fund our sons ESA (Educational Savings Account). Each student gets one lesson per week, four per month. She told me last night that the things that suck the life out of her and suck the fun out of what she does are students that don’t want to be there and parents that don’t care either. I asked her how many lessons it takes for her to know that a student is not serious about learning to love the piano the way she does. She said, “I can tell after 3 lessons.” The students progress is proof that they are internally motivated to learn what she teaches them. It is also proof that there is a support person (usually a parent) that creates a supportive environment around them that is conducive to practicing, learning, and progressing. I had an idea for her business.
